Project Description

Keratoconus

Keratoconus

Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition where the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, gradually thins and bulges into a cone shape. This irregular shape causes distorted and blurred vision, as well as increased sensitivity to light and glare. The exact cause of keratoconus is not fully understood, but it may be influenced by genetic factors and environmental conditions.

Treatment Options:

  • Glasses or Contact Lenses: Early stages can often be managed with glasses or specialised contact lenses designed to improve vision.
  • Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking: This procedure strengthens the corneal tissue to stop progression. READ MORE
  • Corneal Transplant: In advanced cases, a corneal transplant may be necessary to restore vision. READ MORE
